He’s Alive (Ep 106 - 1 hour)
When you need a wild eyed crazy looking young guy to play a neo-Nazi leader in The Twilight Zone, who do you call? Why, you call Dennis Hopper, that’s who. Mr Hopper is perfect in the part of a young neo-Nazi who has trouble convincing people to join in his cause at street corner rallies. This all changes, however, when he starts to take advice from a mysterious stranger who lurks in the shadows never revealing his identity. As his popularity and following grows, so too does his willingness to do whatever it takes for the good of the cause. From Agnes – With Love (Ep 140)
Ever had the feeling that your computer has the hots for you? If so, then you’ve got bigger problems than I, my friend, especially if you’re the sort of loser who likes to give your computers names like they're real people and you refer to them as “she”. Yep, you got big, big problems. Man, you need to get out more often. You sure do. Ever seen a real woman? Well have you? And I don't mean in books. But I digress. This episode tells the sordid tale of a supercomputer who develops a crush on her programmers. One of those room sized computers from times past, with flashing lights and rolls of paper streaming out, it’s the best there is and needs a specialist to run. James is one such specialist, called in when the previous programmer goes a bit fruity. Unexpectedly, the computer begins to give James advice with his lovelife which isn’t going along too swimmingly. But the computer has an ulterior motive, and when the advice begins to work against Jim, the computer reveals its true feelings for him. Spur of the Moment (Ep 141)
Anne is the daughter of a well-off family and pretty much under daddy's thumb. On the day of her engagement party, she is horse riding on her property when another woman on a horse and clad in black (uh oh, you just know she’s trouble) begins to chase her back to her house. Making it home safely and relaying the story to her parents and fiancé, her torment continues when she’s then confronted by her ex-fiancé asking to be taken back. Torn between what her father wants for her and her own heart, she must decide what her future holds in store. But what of the mysterious woman in black? What does she want with Anne?

More of a good thing with volume 28, with all episodes shot on film, and all looking in fine form. Up with the best of the lot so far, the picture – in black and white and full frame – is mostly clear, clean and looking in good shape. There are no flaws worth mentioning, so I won’t. Just remember it's an old television show and you'll be right. Ditto with the audio, which is, surprise surprise, in Dolby Digital 1.0 mono (but you already knew that, didn’t you? Oh, you didn’t? Well go and read my previous 27 Twilight Zone reviews then). You’ll have an easy time hearing dialogue which is perfect throughout and the sound is generally hiss free. More please sir, this is how we like to watch our old time television shows. Yes sir, the picture-wireless never did look this good in my day.
As per usual, the extras on this DVD consist of a selection of text based screens. They contain a Rod Serling biography, season by season commentary, a History Of The Twilight Zone and reviews of the individual episodes presented on this here particular disc. There’s some good (but brief) reading, and the reviews are always an interesting read with some interesting little bits of trivia.
