Scottish hard rockers Nazareth have been around for over 30 years and apart from a brief hiatus for a short time, have continued recording and playing live throughout. For a further breakdown on the band, please read my review on Nazareth - Razamanaz. For this release, we get to see the current line up of Dan McCafferty, Pete Agnew, Lee Agnew, Jimmy Muirrison and Ronnie Leahy performing on their home turf in Glasgow in front of an appreciative audience. There may only be two of the original members with the band now, but the newer members seem to have injected some enthusiasm, adding to the unmistakable vocals of McCafferty and sounding better than ever. Covering all their hits from their 30 year lifespan, they perform to an army of die-hard fans in a rather small and intimate club. The crowd may lack in numbers, but they do make up for it with enthusiasm and energy. Apart from the constant shouting from the audience between songs (well it is a Glasgow bar), this is an enjoyable show, right up to the closing song and their biggest hit Love Hurts. Track listing:
When the Lights Come Down
Razamanaz
Miss Misery
Holiday
Dream On
Simple Solution
My White Bicycle
Walk By Yourself
Bad Bad Boy
Heart's Grown Cold
Broken Down Angel
Whiskey Drinkin' Woman
Hair of fhe Dog

Love Hurts
They really do sound better than ever for this show. Whether that is down to them playing in their hometown in front of diehard fans is unclear, but for a non-fan like me this is an enjoyable show. The vocals of Dan McCafferty are definitely an acquired taste, but if you like him you are going to love this show.

Presented in an aspect ratio of 1.78:1 and 16x9 enhanced, this is a very good transfer. The picture is sharp throughout with very good detail. There are the usual problems encountered with live performances such as over saturation, aliasing and grain, but these are very minor and far less than most concert releases. Colours are true and blacks are deep throughout. There are no subtitles supplied and apart from understanding the Scottish accents, this doesn’t cause a problem. There is a layer change located at 50:28 between songs which is not too intrusive. Overall this is an excellent transfer. Audio supplied for this release is also of a very high standard. Choices on offer are Dolby Digital 2.0, 5.1 and DTS 5.1. All are very good with the DD 2.0 offering a decent stereo transfer. The DD 5.1 is also good but the DTS is better again, offering a much fuller sound. Overall the mix is very bass driven, giving the subwoofer a lot of attention. Separation is well used, but not over bearing, giving good ambience and a nice concert feel. Audio synch is never an issue and there are no signs of dropout. Only one extra is provided, but it is at least something. It comes in the form of Interviews and runs for a total of 21:32. All band members are interviewed and discuss the history of the band as well as the future. This is quite an informative featurette that fans should enjoy, but don’t forget your decoder for the accents. Overall this is a much more enjoyable release than their other DVD currently on the market. The sound and picture quality are very good and this does also offer an extra. Diehard fans will no doubt buy both, but for first timers to this band, I would recommend this as the best introduction.
