How heavy can you get? When you're talking Pantera, pretty darn heavy indeed. This dvd is a collection of Panteras 3 home videos - Cowboys from Hell, Vulgar Video and 3 watch it go. Throw in some bonus footage from the live show in moscow and you've got over 4 hours of footage on a dual layered disc. Dimebag, Philip, Rex and Vinnie Paul take their personal cameras on the road with them and film anything and everything in sight and what they record is what every 15-30 year old child wants to look at - sex, drugs and rock and roll - or in this case, nudity, joints and heavy metal.

The video quality varies from average to poor. The problem here is trying to fit 4 hours 25 minutes of footage onto a dual layered disc. Something has to give and that's the quality of compression used to minimise the space utilised. There is constant mpeg artifacting throughout the disc because of this. The quality of the footage is not the greatest to begin with varying in source. This can sometimes mask the mpeg artifacting but you will notice it and it becomes even more evident if you pause the video as the image looks very blocky and lacking in detail. Speaking of detail, right from the first video you know you are watching second, third, even fourth hand vhs video which won't impress you after seeing how good dvd can be. So what! This is advertised as Panteras home videos and that's what you get. But it's not the video that makes this dvd.

Dolby Digital 2 channel stereo. Once again, you've got home video quality audio so don't expect any semblance of a front stereo soundstage. There are moments of good quality when footage of live performances seem to come through as professional but even then it's not the greatest. At times the audio just gets drowned out by hiss and ambience which seems to suffer from gain from the mediocre equipment used. So what! It's not the audio that makes this dvd.

If you're a fan, you've probably already got the videos. If you're a fan with a dvd player, get rid of the videos and just get this single dvd. If you're a slight heavy metal fan and want a laugh with your friends, borrow this, throw it in, have a drink or two or ten and laugh your ass off.
