It was only a matter of time that the talented vocal and instrumental strengths of this family would be put to the unplugged test. This dvd is a collection of their hits and covers of some other classic songs.

Throw in a few quick instrumental solos and you've got yourself one of the best music DVDs of this year. Below is a listing of the performed songs and then a look at the dvd itself.

  1. Only When I sleep
  2. What Can I Do
  3. Radio
  4. Toss the Feathers
  5. Everybody Hurts
  6. Dreams
  7. Runaway
  8. Forgiven Not Forgotten
  9. At Your Side
  10. Little Wing
  11. No Frontiers
  12. Queen of Hollywood
  13. Old Town
  14. Lough Erin Shore
  15. So Young

This could have been another sterling performance from Warner Vision in the video department but for one major setback. The use of edge enhancement here is a detriment to the impressive picture as it introduces a halo effect around all contrasting objects on the screen. For instance, if one of the singers is featured behind the microphone, the microphone has an artificial white glow around it that shouldn't be there if the image is to be portrayed as natural and film like.

Other than that, the image is absolutely perfect. I don't know why I let this title sit on the shelf for so long as it's now constantly playing in my player.

I am really impressed with the clean look of the picture. The cinematography used here is perfectly suited to the performance with varying degrees of close-ups and wide shots that produce some stunning imagery of the show.

Black level is perfect and with the contrasting use of light we have a dynamic image to enjoy. Colors are vibrant and never rich and with the warm color scheme used we get a very natural image. Hints of blue light on shoulders and hair adds that cool edge to the scene.

Let's not forget that this is also a 1.85:1 16x9 transfer making full use of your widescreen TVs. Most impressive.

This is where the disc really shines, or is that where the Corrs really shine. Backed by a live orchestra and utilising accoustic guitars, electric pianos, violins, flutes and drum kit, we get to enjoy a magnificent sounding disc. One of the best yet from Warner Vision.

There are 2 soundtracks on this disc, a Stereo PCM track and a Dolby Digital 5.0 surround track. The 5.0 track is excellent and makes good use of the rears for both instrumental sections and crowd response and applause.

The 2 channel soundtrack really shines here and improves upon the already great sounding 5.0 track. The inreased resolution here brings your speakers to life and the girls voices are projected with a heavenly presence. These girls can really sing and this disc does them all justice.

  Extras
Contract

A simple collection of extras here with a small section featuring some photos of the band and set. The only problem here is that each photo is pretty small and each screen has the same music playing so when you click onto the next photo, the music begins again. Doing this in quick succession gives the impression of a broken record.

  Overall
Contract

Highly recommended. There is nothing more I can say about this disc that will convince you otherwise. The music is exemplary and the disc presentation is superb, barring the edge enhancement.

Do yourself a favor, forget the Pop stars (or Bardot) and grab yourself a copy of this disc as you won't be disappointed with both the performance of the content or the dvd itself. This is true talent here, not some marketing hype.
