It will go down in history as one of the proudest sporting moments in Australias recent history. 16 days where the world came looking for Kangaroos, "Gday mates" and ofcourse the Olympics. Not everyone had a chance to see all the main events so it comes as no surprise that a highlights collection would become available. From the crowd favorites in Ian Thorpe and Cathy Freeman to the unknowns in Simon Fairweather, Brett Aitken and Scot McGrory. It had its highs and lows and captured on this DVD are the best of them all.

Once again we are presented with a lower than normal, constant bit-rate encoding of the source material. Whilst not as noticeable as the opening ceremony, it does become apparent during scene changes and the like but it is much less obvious. This is probably as good as you're going to get in comparison to what we saw on TV and if your reception isn't the greatest at home then this will look amazing.

The audio on this disc is encoded in 2 channel Dolby Digital, much the same as the opening ceremony, and provides an excellent representationof the highlights included. What we do get that is extra is a small voiceover introduction to each scene, outside that of Ian Thorpes tidbits. Don't expect any earth shattering on this disc.

Now this disc is something special. If ever you wanted to see the highs and lows of the 'major' players in the Olympics then it has it all and most of it in it's entirety which is a good thing. The highlight for me is Cathy Freemans 400m run and if I recall correctly, everyone in the room at the time stops and watches each time I play this, even this far out from the Olympics. A great moment in sport indeed.
