Do the Handicapped Go to Hell?: The boys (well, except for Kyle) endure a fire and brimstone sermon in church, and petrified of heading straight for hell immerse themselves in a mighty dose of churchin' up - dutifully trotting off to Sunday School and preparing for their confessions. Meanwhile, back in Hell Satan has found a new lover, the rather wussy Chris, and they're sharing a brand new condo. The Dark Lord thinks he's happy, but when Saddam reappears (yes he was killed, but where did you think he'd end up, Detroit?) he begins to wonder. Will Saddam win back Satan's affections? Was Jesus made of crackers? Are the Jewish doomed to Hell? Is Timmy doomed to Hell? Speaking of Timmys, why is Tiny Tim down there? Umm, Reverend - what sort of a confession is that? Will Cartman lead the town's kids to salvation? Why is Ike reading John Steinbeck? A bus takes Kenny. To be continued...

Probably: OK, it's time for part two. Cartman unveils his plans to build a new church for the children. Satan is tempted by Saddam's wicked ways, and turns to his old mate God for some advice. Meanwhile, what's Kenny doing in Mexico? What does 'smote' mean anyway? Why is Chris such a wussy pussy? Just where did Saddam get all those toys? Are the Mormons actually onto something? Has Cartman gone too far (gee, surely not)? Is God really a Buddhist? Can Satan learn to love himself (it is after all apparently the greatest love of all)? Will Fonzie make the jump? Oh, Kenny...

4th Grade: The halcyon days of grade three are over, as our favourite little guys confront the horrors of grade four, or more specifically their new teacher, the rather amply endowed in the chest department Ms Choksondik (yes, really!) The kids are determined to make life hell for their new teacher, but she is just as determined to win them over, so she embarks upon a quest to search out Mr Garrison, who has been missing since the end of the previous school year. Meanwhile, yearning for the simpler life of grade three, with the help of two geeks a plan is hatched to turn Timmy's wheelchair into a time machine. Were there 72 or 73 episodes of the original Star Trek? Who the hell cares? Will the kids be able to insert themselves? Will Mr Garrison be able to survive the tree of insight? Just what will he discover? Will the new teacher suck Cartman's balls? Will the time machine work? Will they get all sticky? Will Timmy drop below five miles per hour? Why are kittys strangely attracted to Ms Choksondik? Oh, like you didn't see that one coming Kenny!

Trapper Keeper: Little Ike is starting kindergarten, even though he is only three he has been given an advanced placement, as he is apparently a genius. The new and improved Mr Garrison is back as the kindie teacher, and decides to hold an election for class president, little realising what he has let himself in for. Meanwhile, Cartman has a new Dawson's Creek Trapper Keeper Futura S2000 - the most advanced electronic diary thingy imaginable, but who is this new 'kid' in class Bill Cosby, and what is his obsession with Cartman's new gadget? Can Kyle save the world from an omnipotent super-being? Will Flora ever make up her mind? What about the absent kid's vote (oh, pick up that lung honey)? Will Ike or Filbert concede so they can all go home? How many recounts can you demand? Will Cartman be absorbed? Oh God no - why Rosie O'Donnell? What are you doing Kyle? Why can’t we all just finger paint? Just how many lawyers can one kinder class hold? Where's Kenny?

We're past the halfway mark of the fourth season now - so what's new then? Well, with their graduation to the fourth grade we get a hella-cool new opening theme, which doofs, flashes and renders away manically and unlike its predecessor actually knows what stereo is. Promising us an altogether cooler, smarter, faster, better animated experience with improved walk cycles and more explosions it is actually all a crock of *BEEP*, but what else do you expect from Messrs Parker and Stone?

As visually nummy as previous later efforts, my usual comment basically applies - screw watching this on SBS, I'm going DVD! The only glitches are as have popped up on previous discs, occasional jagged lines and the legacy of some chowderhead that couldn’t wait until a fade to black right at the end of the episode to hit pause, leaving the final frame of the Comedy Central logo strobing away briefly on two of the episodes presented here.

Sound-wise whilst only in Dolby Stereo (it is after all a television show) there's still some nice separation to be had, and as with the rest of the season four discs the French soundtrack has been dropped, so no more tittering at Kenny mumbling away in the native tongue of Cartman's buddy Clyde the Frog. Extras-wise, well at least they finally got the cover shots of the rest of season four working on this disc. Yep, that's it.

Still as politically incorrect (yet also strangely correct at the same time) as ever, although without the over the top edginess of many of the episodes preceding them, the four shows here are not the greatest examples of South Park at its sharpest, but in a show as consistently clever, insightful and funny as this that isn’t really a great insult. So, fans go forth and purchase away, or if you are one of the uninitiated dipping their toes in the waters of South Park on DVD you may wish to pick up one of the discs that contains five episodes, as they naturally present slightly better value.

Only one more disc to go. Sniffle.
