This disc features a performance from R&B/Soul artist Jeffrey Osborne former lead singer of LTD and long time solo performer. He is perhaps best known for the smash hit song 'On The Wings Of Love'. This concert was recorded, like the other discs from The Jazz Channel Presents library, at the Black Music Television II studio in Washington D.C. Osborne is an excellent live performer and puts on an energetic, polished and fun concert that really gets the audience involved. He has them singing, waving their arms and clapping along as he makes his way through a selection of his old favourites as well as some of his newer material. He also leaves the stage and walks through the audience asking for people to sing a short part of the Woo Woo song! The playlist for this particular performance is:
1. We Party Hearty | 8. Concentrate On You |
2. Second Time Around | 9. Don't You Get So Mad |
3. On The Wings Of Love | 10. I Really Don't Need No Light |
4. Stay With Me Tonight | 11. That's For Sure |
5. Da Butt | 12. (Every Time I Turn Around) Back In Love Again |
6. Kreepin' | 13. Love Ballad |
7. Holding On (When Love Is Gone) | 14. You Should Be Mine (The Woo Woo Song) |
My review disc suffers from a manufacturing fault toward the centre. This manifests itself as a problem when trying to play the concert itself. On my reference player (Loewe Xemix) there is a noticeable pause when I press play and the performance starts at the second song. Try as I might, I cannot not get this player to show the first song. Using the PC player PowerDVD I can see the first track no problem. Chalk one up for PowerDVD! Apart from this, all of the other features of the disc are available. I've read another review for this disc and no mention is made of a fault and so I hope it is restricted to this particular disc.

The video transfer for this disc is typical of the other discs in this series. A solid transfer featuring strong colours with acceptable middle and close distance detail. It suffers from minor moiré effects on the microphone as well as some minor aliasing on guitar strings. There is also some cross coloration on guitar strings, particularly the neck of the guitar. Don't worry about these minor faults, watch the concert and get down and funky. Another excellent audio transfer is on offer here. As has become standard on these releases there are three audio formats available; DTS, Dolby Digital 5.1 and Dolby Digital 2.0. Both the DTS and Dolby Digital 5.1 tracks are great, both featuring excellent clarity and fidelity with a wonderfully spacious live sound. If I were tortured and had to suggest a winner I'd give it to the DTS track by a whisker due to it having slightly better controlled bass. But the reality is that both are superb. By comparison the Dolby Digital 2.0 track sounds thin with a more collapsed soundstage. It is also mastered at a lower level so be prepared to dial in a bit more volume than normal. There are three extras on this disc. The first is a one page biography for Jeffrey Osborne, the second is a discography and the third is a 26 odd minute interview feature. The interview is an odd feature as a small window is shown in alternating corners of the screen when Jeffrey is talking with the rest of the screen showing concert footage. While he is talking, the concert sound is kept in the background. In the brief interview snippets Osborne talks about his introduction to music, his career and his thoughts on the music scene of today.
