The Grateful Dead - From Anthem to Beauty

Who are these guys and how much did they smoke as they are still be stoned to this very day. And they freely admit that they did.

I freely admit that I don't know who these guys are and that I'm not a fan of their music. But someone out there is and may find it more interesting than I did myself.

One of the more interesting scenes on this disc was at the Playboy After Dark. The entire band looks to have set off quite a few fire alarms with what they'd been smoking. Throw in some interesting drinking mixtures that the band didn't realise had been given to them and you get a hilarious performance on the merits of their facial expressions.

Lots and lots of old footage here that doesn't come up too well on dvd. No they are not mpeg artifacts you see but mere video color bleed and distortion being reproduced perfectly. :)

The hair styles are very detailed and the frames of their glasses are sharp indeed. Reds are very red when the bleed across the screen and the phsycadelic special effects give the transfer that extra sensory experience you've been after.

It's a different style of music than I'm used to and it comes at you entering into both your left and right ears. You can even get that surround sound feel if you turn around and face the back wall.

Other than that you get the narrative in 5 different languages. I watched this version in german just to make it more interesting. :)

As I said in the beginning. This disc didn't do anything for me and will only be of interest to a grateful Dead fan. Anthem to beauty is not an album in itself, but 2 - Anthem of the Sun & American Beauty.
