These are the first four titles in what is claimed were the most popular film series ever made until those magic numbers OO7 rolled along. The humour has dated; Bing Crosby is goofy in the same sort of embarrassing way as Prince Charles (who he resembles in a strange sort of way), but there is an endearing sort of nostalgic charm about it all.
Individual titles reviews
| |
REVIEW: Road to Singapore "Our two Hobbits, Bing and Bob, hit the road for the very first time. They're busy evading matrimony - but one of them looks certain to find the golden ring to rule them all." - Anthony Clarke |
| |
REVIEW: Road to Zanzibar "Buddies Bing and Bob set out on another road, this time to the darkest part of Africa. And who should they find there? Well, if it isn't little Dotty Lamour." - Anthony Clarke |
| |
REVIEW: Road to Morocco "We're like Webster's Dictionary, we're Morocco-bound - with our two buddies, Bing and Bob, and their eternal flame, Dorothy Lamour." - Anthony Clarke |
| |
REVIEW: Road to Utopia "How many roads must a man walk down…?" - Jules Faber |

These movies are available only in this box set. If they were available separately, I'd recommend the third movie, The Road to Morocco, as a sampler of the complete set. It would be enough by itself for most people.

And I quote... |
"The 'Road' series serves up Bing Crosby, Bob Hope and Dorothy Lamour, in a never-ending motorway of unabashed silliness and genial stupidity." - Anthony Clarke |
